Pink Granite, a Dammed River, and a Town Between Them
Just west of town rises Granite Mountain, a dome of pink granite. Its stone built the Texas State Capitol in Austin, completed in 1888, in a deal that traded granite for a railroad connection and quarry labor. The quarry is still working. Few small towns can point to a building of that size and say, with justification, that it came from down the road.
The other half of the town’s identity is water. Marble Falls sits on Lake Marble Falls, one of the Highland Lakes strung along the Colorado River, and the lake draws boaters, anglers, and weekend owners from Austin, San Antonio, and beyond. Census estimates count about 7,750 residents, a median age of 35.5, and a little over three thousand households, but the weekend population is another matter.
The Lake House From Monday to Friday
A lake house earns its keep on Saturdays. Most of the week it sits closed up, often with a boat on a lift, kayaks on a rack, and a garage of fishing gear. Neighbors on the water may be absent too. The house is in plain view from the lake, and anyone idling past in a boat can tell when nobody has been home for days.
A monitored alarm with door and motion sensors, reporting over cellular to our 24/7 monitoring center, covers the house. Smart thermostats and scheduled lights let you keep the place comfortable and occupied-looking from your phone, and to cool it down before you arrive on Friday. Nobody sees the house the way you do on Saturday, so let it tell you about the other six days.

Crime report · 2023–2024
Marble Falls police publish monthly performance sheets, but we found no verified 2024 count of burglaries or thefts for the city.
Reporting agency: Marble Falls Police Department
The Marble Falls Police Department posts monthly Performance Measures reports on the city website, tracking incidents, 911 calls, citations, and case clearances. The most recent sheet we could find was for May 2023, and its tables don’t break out burglary or theft. We could not verify a 2024 offense count, so we list no figures here rather than borrow a number we can’t stand behind. For current crime data, contact the Marble Falls Police Department; outside city limits, the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office.
The setting tells you where to focus. Marble Falls is a lake town on a busy highway, with retail along US 281 and homes along the water that are often used part-time. That mix tends to produce the same handful of problems everywhere it occurs: vehicle break-ins in parking lots, after-hours burglaries at businesses, and thefts from docks, boathouses, and garages at houses that sit empty during the week.
Cameras That Face the Water
Most home camera plans point at the street. On the lake, the more vulnerable side faces the water: the dock, the boathouse, the stairs up from the shoreline. We often place a camera on the boathouse or dock with a clear view of the lift and another covering the path up to the house.
Waterside cameras need weather-rated housings, careful placement to avoid glare off the lake, and motion settings that ignore waves and passing boats. Our security cameras are chosen and tuned for that. If you want to know what kind of recording is legal near a shared shoreline, our article on Texas security camera laws is a good starting point.
Storefronts Along US 281
US 281 runs through Marble Falls as its commercial spine, and the shops, restaurants, and offices along it see heavy traffic by day and very little after closing. Parking lots, rear service doors, and loading areas are the usual weak points. Lighting there is often an afterthought, and a dark loading area is an invitation.
We build business security around them: monitored contacts and glass-break sensors, cameras on the lot and the back door, and access control that records which employee opened up. For businesses that already have equipment, we can often take over the monitoring rather than start over. Owners can check the cameras from home instead of driving back at midnight.
Families Who Live Here All Year
For all the lake traffic, plenty of Marble Falls residents are here year-round, and the town skews younger than many Hill Country neighbors, with a median age of 35.5. These households want ordinary things: a porch that packages don’t vanish from, a garage door that doesn’t stay open all night, and a way to let the kids in after school.
A video doorbell watches the porch and lets you answer from work. Smart locks give each family member a code and show who came home when. A garage controller alerts you when the door has been open too long. These are small pieces, easily added to a monitored system, and they solve problems that come up every week rather than once a decade.
What to Expect From a Marble Falls Assessment
Our DPS Private Security Bureau license, B16898, dates to our founding in 2010. On a lake property we walk the shoreline as well as the house, test the cell signal at the dock, and ask how often the place is used. For businesses, we visit after hours if that’s when the risk is.
We also serve Johnson City and Austin. Start with a free security assessment and a written plan you can review at your own pace. If the lake house is a weekend place, we can meet you there on a Friday or Saturday and finish the work before the next busy season.
